The counseling relationship is a partnership in which thoughts, questions, and fears can be identified and explored deeply. Anxiety, sadness, grief, as well as spiritual and existential questions can confound us. For some, addressing end of life issues can be a vitally important part of living the life we do have. Developing new resources, skills and ways of thinking can ultimately lead to renewed feelings of self-worth, clarity, and purpose. I work with clients to identify unhelpful beliefs, find ways to self regulate, let go of needing factors outside of yourself to be different to the neglect of factors you can control, and to find meaning in life. We might use EMDR to help process traumas. This way you can begin to notice patterns of thinking that helped at one time but no longer serve you.
