    Title: Communications and Development Director
    Job Type: P/T Position, (20 hours/week)
    Reports To: Executive Director

    Pride Center of Vermont is currently seeking a part-time Communications and Development Director to oversee the  Outreach, Events, and Fundraising Program. This position will work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors. 

    Specific Responsibilities.

    Strategically plan, evaluate, and improve Pride Center of Vermont’s annual events, fundraising plan, and communications in collaboration with the Executive Director, including:

    • Manage a portion of Pride Center of Vermont’s external communication including social media, blogs, newsletter, press releases, annual report, etc.
    • Oversight of the annual fundraising program, including special events and direct mail solicitations
    • Provide support and supervision to interns/work study students/volunteers in implementing the communications, events, and fundraising program
    • Research, cultivate relationships with, and solicit community resources, including major donors, businesses, corporations, towns, and individuals
    • Work with service groups and businesses to meet in-kind donation needs
    • Provide support for the fundraising activities of the Board of Directors, including serving as co-chair of the Fundraising Committee 
    • Oversight of the donor database and other fundraising resources

    The ideal candidate will possess the following:

    • Experience with design and management of social media and other online and print materials
    • Experience in donor solicitation, community fundraising, and events coordination
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Experience in providing supervision is desired
    • Ability to connect with diverse groups within and beyond LGBTQ+ communities

    Pride Center of Vermont (PCVT) is seeking a dynamic and passionate SafeSpace Coordinator to join our Anti-Violence Team! We are looking for someone who is strategic, compassionate, and motivated to work for survivor-centric and intersectional social change.

    PCVT celebrates, educates and advocates with and for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning and HIV-affected (LGBTQ+) individuals in Vermont. The ideal candidate understands and is able to effectively communicate about the complexities of LGBTQ+ identities and the various challenges that LGBTQ+ individuals in Vermont face. Our organization recognizes and celebrates diversity and we strongly encourage people of color, trans/gender non-conforming individuals, and/or members of other underrepresented groups/constituencies to apply.

    The SafeSpace Anti-Violence Coordinator provides direct services to LGBTQ+ and HIV-affected survivors of domestic, sexual and/or hate violence, and to individuals who have experienced or are experiencing bias and/or discrimination. They also organize and facilitate some LGBTQ+ inclusivity trainings and assist with general responsibilities and day-to-day functioning of the Pride Center.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    SafeSpace Direct Services
    • Provide crisis intervention services and intakes for SafeSpace callers and walk-in clients
    • Offer individual and group support, advocacy, information, referrals, and accompaniment
    • Document program and client-related activity
    • Contribute to state and national reports along with PCVT internal monthly reports
    • Create and implement outreach initiatives
    • Participate in SafeSpace Program visioning meetings, bi-weekly supervision with SafeSpace Director, and PCVT all-staff meetings

    PCVT Training and Education
    • Provide training and technical assistance to organizations and agencies across Vermont
    • Continually update trainings to reflect and address current language, climate and events
    • Establish and foster long-term, collaborative relationships with agencies and organizations

    Community Connection
    • Participate in relevant Task Forces and coalitions
    • Coordinate workshops/events/gatherings to bring people together and offer education, healing and social connection for the LGBTQ+ community
    • With other staff: manage volunteer recruitment, placement and development
    • With other staff: manage PCVT and related website/calendar/blog/social media postings

    Required Qualifications:
    • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to anti-oppression work
    • Emotional self-awareness, commitment to a work-life balance, and desire to be being part of a team that takes care of one another
    • 3+ years of relevant experience and/or related degree
    • Ability to connect with diverse groups within and beyond LGBTQ+ communities
    • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, prioritize and maintain boundaries effectively
    • Valid driver’s license for statewide travel

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience supporting survivors of violence: (domestic, sexual, emotional, discrimination, and/or hate violence)
    • Experience facilitating workshops, social justice conversations and/or support groups
    • Knowledge of available social service resources in Vermont

Internship Opportunities

 

The Pride Center of VT has internship opportunies available for students in Chittenden County:

  • The GLAM Interns will assist in the coordination of PCVT's fun, social HIV prevention program, GLAM. Two openings exist for this internship.
  • The Marketing and Outreach Intern will participate in various stages of print and online marketing and outreach projects.

All internships will be able to provide opportunities for skill development, gaining experience in their respective fields, and fulfilling internship or college credit requirements. Interns receive training, tailored assignments based on interests and skills, and supportive supervision from our staff. See below for details!

 

GLAM Intern:

Description

PCVT is looking for two interns to help plan events for gay, bi, and trans guys who like gay, bi, and trans guys for GLAM, PCVT's Mpowerment program. GLAM is a group of young gay, bi, queer and/or trans guys who are coming together, getting out, and enjoying the connections we make. Through building a stronger queer community in Chittenden County, we empower one another, support each other, and fight the HIV epidemic.

This fun and meaningful project is run by and for GBQT guys. Interns of all identities are encouraged to apply.

This intern should be prepared to work in a deadline oriented team environment, and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of event planning, marketing and community organizing.

Responsibilities

  • Attend weekly core group meetings every Wednesday at 6:30pm
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of weekly social events for GBQ folks on the masculine spectrum.
  • Assist in the distribution or delivery of marketing materials via social media networks, through the organizations website and through direct contact with collaborating agencies and members of the LGBTQ community.
  • Help recruit core volunteers and program participants at LGBTQ events in the area.

Requirements

PCVT is looking for an undergraduate student in the Chittenden County area who is majoring in Art/Design, Gender Studies, Human Service / Non-Profit Mgmt, Journalism, Social Work, Community Development, Marketing Public Relations or any other related field.  This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with web and social media. This internship would require a minimum of 4 hour per week.

Description

PCVT is looking for a tech savvy intern with an eye for design to join our fabulous team. Our organization provides services that celebrate and support LGBTQ Vermonters, and seeks an intern who can participate in various stages of print and online marketing campaigns.

This intern should be prepared to work in a deadline oriented team environment, and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of marketing and community organizing.

Experience in HTML or design is helpful but not necessary. We’re willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities 

  • Assist in the creation of e-mail & print campaigns, weekly e-newsletters and blog postings
  • Assist in the distribution or delivery of marketing materials via social media networks, through the organizations website and through direct contact with collaborating agencies.
  • Perform analysis of communications and outreach data.

Requirements

PCVT is looking for an undergraduate student in the Chittenden County area who is majoring in Art/Design, Gender Studies, Human Service / Non-Profit Mgmt, Journalism, Social Work, Community Development, Marketing Public Relations or any other related field.  This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with web and social media. Experience with design programs, PowerPoint, Word and Excel experience is a bonus. This internship would require a minimum of 4 hours per week.
