LGBTQA+ hikers are gathering in December to explore the trails of Ethan Allen Homestead in Burlington. More than 4 miles of trails wind through 284 acres of Burlington’s Intervale. The Winooski Valley Park District land features “numerous wildlife species, an elevated boardwalk through a cattail marsh, and several miles of trails along the river and through floodplain forests.” The homestead land is also a part of Burlington Wildway’s newly-opened Intervale Wildway Trail. We will have plenty of options for the length, direction, and difficulty of our adventure. Becky Swem and Gwendolyn Causer of Audubon Vermont will co-lead the hike to provide birding, botany, hiking, and tracking tidbits. After our hike we’ll warm up with beverages at Scout & Co. on North Avenue.
Trail/accessibility information: Our walk will be at an easy pace and will cover less than 4 miles. We are very flexible about the trails we choose based upon the needs of the group. Most trails are packed dirt and/or woodchips. If you require accommodations or have questions about accessibility, please contact Audubon Vermont at email@example.com.
