Story Listening Workshop

Dr. Jason Garvey in the College of Education and Social Services (CESS) and research team is doing outreach for an upcoming Story Listening workshop for LGBTQIA+ Vermonters with cancer experiences. This workshop and corresponding research study is a collaboration with the UVM Cancer Center, The Vermont Conversation Lab, and the Pride Center of Vermont.
The workshop will be held in Burlington on Saturday Sept 6 from 10am – 4pm. Participants are LGBTQIA+ Vermonters with cancer experiences (and their family caregivers) who are interested in telling their stories and listening to others. Participants will learn the Story Listening approach to facilitating meaningful, connectional conversations and will explore techniques to creating an open, invitational space for dialogue. Participation in the paid research component of the workshop is optional and includes filling out surveys and audio recording stories. Meals and snacks will be provided.
