Pride Hikes @ Raven Ridge Natural Area co-hosted by The Nature Conservancy

February 17 @ 12:30 pm - 3:00 pm

LGBTQIA2S+ hikers and birders are gathering on February 17 from 12:30-3pm to explore Raven Ridge, a 363-acre natural area managed by The Nature Conservancy. Raven Ridge is a diverse ecosystem made up of wetland, hardwood forest, cliffs, and caves. The natural area is considered a refugia for rarely seen wildlife, such as bobcats and the federally endangered Indiana Bat. Audubon staff will provide extra pairs of binoculars for those who may want to use them for the hike. This is a rescheduled hike from October 2023. Registration is required for this hike – there will potentially not be enough parking should you choose not to register.

Allies of all ages welcome, though we ask anyone under 18 to be accompanied by an adult. To protect this natural area and the wildlife inhabiting it, no dogs are allowed on trail.

Carpooling: All participants will meet at the Hinesburg Park and Ride by 12:30pm to carpool over to Raven Ridge Natural Area. The parking is extremely limited and we have no control over what cars are already there. Masks will be required during carpooling. Please let sarah.hooghuis@audubon.org know if you need special accommodations.

Trail surface: packed dirt, gravel/crushed stone, wooden boardwalk with edge barriers, rock. In winter, trails may be icy or slick with snow.

Distance: 2.2-mile loop

Elevation gain: 498 feet

Accessibility: Participants using wheelchairs, mobility equipment, or strollers may need all-terrain tires or adaptive/motorized equipment for the surface type and grade after about 0.3 miles.

Reach out to sarah.hooghuis@audubon.org with any questions.
