LGBTQIA2S+ Body Liberation Yoga

June 28, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

In honor of Pride Month, we’re offering a space for LGBTQIA+ folks to explore yoga through the lens of body liberation. Our practice will start with a guided meditation to connect with our bodies, acknowledge the oppression our bodies experience every day, sit with whatever comes up, and practice some breathwork to process whatever we’re sitting with. Then we’ll move into a short, gentle asana practice focused on accepting our bodies exactly as they are and letting go of the negative energy we’re holding toward our bodies, influenced by the oppression we experience as queer folks. After a long savasana, we’ll spend some time together in community, discussing whatever came up during practice or anything else that feels relevant.

Location:
Sangha Studio – Pine
About Robin
Robin is a queer, non-binary, yoga teacher, writer, and body liberation activist who self-identifies as fat. They are also in recovery from multiple eating disorders, and their experiences in recovery introduced them to the body liberation movement and reintroduced them to yoga through yoga therapy.

Robin has been studying and writing about body liberation for multiple years, and they finally took the plunge into yoga teacher training in 2018. They got their 200-hr teacher certification through Story Yoga, and have been teaching for the past five years.

Robin has experienced firsthand how the tools of yoga can be used to reconnect with the body, process the energy of trauma and oppression, and bring all kinds of bodies closer to liberation, both personal and collective. This experience is at the center of each practice they teach, especially in queer and fat communities.
