LGBTQ+ Support Group: Sexual Violence

May 2 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Are you over the age of 18 and looking for support in healing from sexual violence? If so, join SafeSpace Anti-Violence Program advocates for a facilitated, 6-week virtual support group for LGBTQ+ survivors of sexual violence.
Conversations will be lightly facilitated by one of our confidential advocates. Each session participants will be invited to share what’s coming up for them, and to be in conversation and community with other LGBTQ+ participants.
Pre-registration is required. Prior to attending the first group, all registrants will have a short, 5-10 minute phone call with an advocate to make sure that the support group is the right fit for their needs. For continuity and consistency, participants will be asked to commit to all 6 sessions.
Commitment
This group will meet for 6 Tuesdays from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. Those dates are: 3/28, 4/4, 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, and 5/2. For the sake of continuity and relationship-building, we ask that participants commit to attending all 6 sessions.
.
What is sexual violence?
Sexual violence is an all-encompassing, non-legal term that refers to any sexual action that is enacted on you without your explicit consent. Some examples of sexual violence include: unwanted sexual advances, non-consenual objectification, and sexual assault. People of all genders and sexual identities can be survivors of sexual violence.
Not sure if you’re a survivor of sexual violence? Fill out the registration form or call our confidential support line at 802-863-0003 to talk with an advocate about your experiences.
Meeting Format
As in-person meetings are still not a safe option for many members of our community, this support group will convene exclusively via Zoom. Additionally, by hosting the support group on Zoom, more people from across the state will be able to participate.
That said, we understand that Zoom might not be a safe option for people who are currently living with the people who are causing them harm. If this is a concern you have, please call our confidential support line to discuss potential options for participation: 802-863-0003
Accessibility
Please denote all accessibility needs on the registration form. This group will meet exclusively via Zoom. For accessibility questions, please contact an advocate at safespace@pridecentervt.org or 802-863-0003.
