Call and Response: Two Poets Having a Very Black Conversation through Spoken Word

Herukhuti Sharif Williams, PhD, is a revolutionary and decolonial artist/cultural worker, cultural critic, and public intellectual based in Brooklyn, New York. A playwright, stage director, documentary filmmaker, performance artist, essayist, and poet, Dr. Herukhuti is the award-winning author of the poetry collection, Race. Resistance. Love., experimental book Conjuring Black Funk: Notes on Culture, Sexuality, and Spirituality, Volume 1 and co-editor of the Lambda Literary Award nonfiction finalist anthology and Bisexual Book Awards nonfiction and anthology winner, Recognize: The Voices of Bisexual Men.

Spoken word poet, activist and teaching artist, Rajnii Eddins, has been engaging diverse community audiences for over 30 years. He was the youngest member of the Afrikan American Writers Alliance at age 11 and has been actively sharing with youth and community in Vermont since 2010. Rajnii’s diverse talents and passions allow him to offer a wide variety of powerful experiences that foster connection, learning, and mutual growth.
