“because art” book launch party ft. John Killacky

Pride Center of Vermont welcomes VT legislator, disability rights activist, performer, local queer icon and author John Killacky to launch his newest piece of work “because art” on Thursday, September 23rd at 7 pm.

“because art: Commentary, Critique, & Conversation” features published writing, speeches and conversations by artist, arts administrator, and Vermont state legislator, John R. Killacky. Highlights include:

– Cultural, social, and political commentary on leadership, disability, equines, Buddhism, AIDS, arts producing, philanthropy, and legislating.

– Critical analysis of such artists as Ron Athey, John Cage, Douglas Crimp, Keith Haring, Peter Hujar, Dona Ann McAdams, Kevin McKenzie, Eiko Otake, and Sarah Schulman.

– Interviews with such art luminaries as Alison Bechdel, Trisha Brown, Janis Ian, Bill T. Jones, Tony Kushner, and Meredith Monk.

We are grateful for Rep. Killacky’s generous donation of 50% of book sales at the event, which will benefit the Pride Center of Vermont and our community programming.
