Title: Rural Advocacy Coordinator
Status: Full Time (40 hours/week)
Reports To: Interim SafeSpace Director
Compensation and Benefits: $23/hour ($47,840 annually), health and dental insurance (100% employer covered), generous paid time off
Pride Center of Vermont (PCVT) is seeking a skilled Rural Advocacy Coordinator to join our SafeSpace Anti-Violence Program. We are looking for an advocate who can share in our direct service work with 2STQLGB+ survivors of abuse, violence, and harm across Vermont, with a special focus on increasing support for rural 2STQLGB+ survivors through outreach, education, and facilitating connection.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Direct Service Advocacy
- Support survivors of abuse, violence, and harm through emotional support, safety planning, resource navigation, and advocacy by staffing our warm line, anonymous chat, support groups, and in-person advocacy and accompaniment. Participate in documentation and development of this work.
Outreach and Education
- Design and implement needs assessments and feedback structures, create outreach and education offerings with rural community orgs and care providers, and build relationships to strengthen rural 2STQLGB+ survivor support statewide;
- Develop and maintain resources for rural 2STQLGB+ survivors on our Pride Center of VT website.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- 2+ years of anti-violence advocacy or survivor support experience, other relevant support experience, and/or related study;
- Lived experience within and/or strong knowledge of rural 2STQLGB+ communities;
- Experience with training facilitation and curriculum development, multi-tasking, working independently and collaboratively, Google Suite, and conflict, repair, and boundary skills;
- Knowledge and/or experience in anti-oppression work, abolition and transformative justice, and the ability to connect with marginalized people safely while bringing others along in the work.
This position requires some in person outreach, advocacy, and education work statewide. Primary location is flexible. Reliable means of regular statewide travel required.
